When I heard this album, I was completely blown away. John Legend has a very distinct style and sound. And he defines it well on this album. No one has the same cadence or rhythm that this guy does. Trust me, he stands out. Once you hear it, you won't easily forget. His songs are so well crafted and self-assured. And fittingly, he will be opening up for Alicia Keys on her upcoming Diary Tour. That's one stellar combination. It doesn't get much better.
This album at times is dynamic and at others incredibly subtle. That's part of the John Legend magic. His voice alone shows great imagination. He's able to create such unique and interesting layers and textures. Mr. Legend's voice isn't one dimensional. He knows when and where to accentuate every line of each song.
I have very few albums where the energy resonates so strongly. I feel like I'm in a better place mentally after listening to this record. It is a classic because it captures the same quality and elegance that the vintage R&B records did. Most of the contemporary stuff just stays on the surface and never quite sinks in. This album goes deeper. It does more than move, it lifts.

This cd is first off not a classic. With the climate of black music leaning towards hip-hop more then soul this cd does give you a fix you have been looking for. Pick it up mainly because who knows when you are going to get some decent r&b. By r&b I mean true vocals and instruments and talent. So buy it just for that.

I love this album. It's straight up raw. You can tell he has talent. Most albums the track overpowers the singers because alot of the time the singers can't really sing. That isn't the case with Mr. Legend. I must admit that I have not listened to the entire album yet because I become so obsessed with certain tracks on the album but he still blows my mind either way. My goal on December 28, 2004 was to get his album. AND I've been impressed ever since. I can't wait for more albums from him. John Legend is real music and we will still be celebrating his music 20, 40, 60 years from now. Timeless, classic, pure MUSIC!!!! "What More Can I Say?"

Thank God for John Legend. I was starting to doubt the music industry for just a moment until I heard this man's voice. This album is pure soul. I think John Legend has a long and beautiful career ahead of him. The album is beautiful, mellow, and sexy. Ranging from topics such as cheating to being in love. I highly recommend that you get this album. With this album, John Legend has proved that he is and will be a Legend.

"Get Lifted" is one of the best R&B albums by a male singer in years. John's almost in a league by himself. No other male R&B artist is drafting songs like: LET'S GET LIFTED, I CAN CHANGE, STAY WITH YOU, or LIVE IT UP. He's creating songs that will still be good 10-20 years from now. It's difficult to create an album that's both artistic and commercially viable. But John succeeded. Some people fly on the commercial end, but the artistic merits are minimal. "Get Lifted" represents the best of both. John Legend is the rare singer that comes around every so many years. He's worth remembering. Those interested in having a serious R&B recording career should take a good listen to this album. Aspire to this level. I would definitely recommend this CD.

This album is a striking masterpiece. There are no other words to describe it. This WILL definitely be one of best albums released in 2005. I know real talent when I hear it. And no mistaking, John Legend's got the right name. Don't let the 1 and 2 stars fool you. There hasn't been a male R&B singer like this since forever. People WILL be talking about this album in 10 years. If Mr. Legend wanted to grab our attention and make an impression, he's doing it. With this album, Kanye West masterfully illustrates why he's the apt artist/producer that he is. "Get Lifted" was no fluke, and they're both light-years ahead of many of their counterparts. It's truly remarkable. John Legend scores points with me because he takes every song with his voice and energy to a new level. I've never heard an album just rocket into the stratosphere the way this one does. The CD is called "Get Lifted" and that's how I feel when I'm done listening. Hard to believe, but with one album John Legend has already transformed the R&B landscape forever. He's raised the bar to a new high. When he says, "I know you're getting' tired of the same ol' thing/Well I'ma break the rules, gonna change the game/You'll be screamin' my name," he's not blowing smoke. This guy is the real thing. You'll be very sad if you overlook this one. "Get Lifted" is a modern R&B Classic waiting to be discovered. I would highly recommend it.

First off before I comment on the album. Kanye West only produced 3 tracks on the album which are "Used 2 Love U", "Number One" and "Alright". He worked with long time collaborators Dave Tozer and Devo Harris. Just clarifying for those who think Kanye West is responsible for this amazing talent. Maybe for putting him out there but he would have blown up regardless. This album is beautiful from beginning to end. I am glad to see that real music isn't lost on the world. It gives me hope to see people embracing John. If you haven't seen him live you need to esp for those 2 or 3 people saying he isn't "all that"..The hype is true. For once the industry and the world got it right. He will be around for a long time. Watch and enjoy! Get the album, buy it for someone..just get it..It is Totally worth it!

I love this CD! John Legend has a melodic and gritty voice that crosses music genres. His songs will appeal to lovers of "old-school", gospel, rap, and country. I especially love "I Can Change", "Stay With You", Let's Get Lifted Again", and "So High". These songs make me wanna grab somebody and "take it real slow". This CD is a definite winner! John Legend is gifted artist. I hope to hear more from him in the future.

All i gat to say is havent even bought the album yet. by just listening to the samples from amazon makes me want go cap it right away. he is really a legend!!!
