Books - About Stephen Tirpak and Tirpak Music Skills
A fourth generation musician, Stephen began cultivating his musicianship from a very early age. With both parents as musical guides, he started playing the drums at age 3 and then went on to study Suzuki violin when he was 5. Stephen believes these two experiences were paramount in his development as a musician since the rhythmic aspect of music was focused on separately as a young drummer. After expressing an interest in pitch, the violin became his instrument of choice. The Suzuki method that he studied is a way of learning to play classical music by ear. Stephen didn't start learning to read music until he was playing trumpet in his local middle school band. Stephen began teaching private lessons and started noticing his students' learning patterns and their trouble areas. Frustrated with the traditional method books available, Stephen began putting together exercises that addressed each student's problem. The exercises were easy to understand and helped the students overcome their trouble areas. In time, the exercises were put together into books; thus Tirpak Music Skills was born. Learn more.
