SHOCK IN STORE FOR VERSACE
Posted on 15 Jan 2008 by Ewe
Don't expect to see the Versace men's collection in Bergdorf Goodman this year. On Saturday night, Tommy Fazio, the men's fashion director for the luxury store, showed up to the Versace men's show in Milan and took his usual front-row seat, and all was well until the late arrival of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. According to our insider, the standing-room-only event was pushed even later when Beyoncé's hulking bodyguard didn't have a seat. Our shocked spy said, "A minion, who obviously had no idea who Tommy was, told him to get up so the guard could sit down." Fazio wasn't pleased and said, "Fine - I don't stand at shows, so please escort me to the door." Afterward, Fazio canceled his post-show appointment with the fashion house. Onlookers were shocked, but Beyoncé was blissfully unaware as she went from the show to the GQ party that followed, where she sat in a corner with Jay-Z and "read the magazine before leaving after 15 minutes." A rep for Versace said, "Obviously there was some confusion with the show, but it had nothing to do with Beyoncé or her bodyguard. It happens occasionally at shows."

BEYONCE'S SISTER COMFORTS JAMIE LYNN
Posted on 14 Jan 2008 by Ewe
Singer Beyonce Knowles' sister Solange has offered some words of comfort to Britney Spears' pregnant teenage sister Jamie Lynn. Sixteen-year-old Jamie revealed last month that she is pregnant. Solange was 17 years old when she gave birth to her first child, contactmusic.com reports. Solange admits that she has no regrets having a child at such a young age and believes that all women have it in them to become great mothers. She said: "I have been so blessed that my son is the coolest kid ever. Of course, that first year of not sleeping and just being dedicated to him had tough parts but that's fine. It's been a blast for me. "A lot of people have doubts, but when you have a child I think it takes a really non-emotional person not to have a blast, no matter what age. I've heard stories of people who were 14 that had kids and basically snapped into it and got into the groove of motherhood. I think that emotional attachment, there's nothing out of it that you could regret."

Rumours are rife that Beyonce Knowles could be keeping a secret - she's expecting a baby with new husband Jay-Z. The pair married in a secret ceremony in Paris last month, and now friends are suggesting the former Destiny's Child singer could be celebrating again soon. One tells the Mirror, "Beyonce is giving nothing away. She's always been close to her parents and open about wanting a large family of her own one day." Given how secretive the pair were over their nuptials, we probably won't know for sure until Beyonce's actually given birth! Entertainment Wise

KELLY ROWLAND AIN'T PRESSED THAT BEYONCE IS MORE FAMOUS
Posted on 10 Jan 2008 by Ewe
The journalist boldly asked the singer if she wished she was as famous as her Destiny's Child bandmate Beyonce Knowles. "God creates different people for a reason," she said in response. "Everyone will have a different and unique journey and my journey will be different from Beyonce's and her journey will be different from Michelle [Williams'] and Michelle's will be different from everyone else's. I don't think about it or worry that I'm not doing this or achieving that – people do that for me!" Read more.

WHO IS GLASTONBURY'S BIG BOOKING?
Posted on 10 Jan 2008 by Ewe
Will Kanye be headlining Glastonbury? Michael Eavis has apparently said that it will be a black headliner and the rapper is currently favourite to be heading to the summer festival this year. Other names in the picture include Jay-Z, Beyonce and Rihanna. Glasto organiser Michael Eavis told the BBC he wanted to appeal to young people. He is quoted as saying: "I'm putting on a black American headliner, who's absolutely terrific that's going to appeal to those people." Asked if Amy Winehouse would perform, he added: "I hope so, I really, really do need her." The festival takes place on his farm in Pilton, Somerset, from June 27-29. People must submit their contact details and a passport photo during February in order to buy tickets when they go on sale on April 6. "I agree it is a tedious business, but people appreciate why we're doing it," Michael said. "We did it last year and it was perfect. "The only thing is some of the photographs weren't quite good enough so we're sharpening up the pictures."

MISSED JAY-Z AND BEYONCE'S WEDDING? LOL
Posted on 09 Jan 2008 by Ewe
Hip-hop sketch comedy group 'It's the Real' recently posted their latest take at the complex subculture of the rich and famous, 'If it was all so Bey-Z', using a comical cut-and-paste collage style animation (think Internet People by Meth Minute 39, but for hip-hop moguls). The skit is narrated by a fictional celebrity wedding planner, Lauren, dishing on behind-the-scenes details for coordinating the elaborately comical seating arrangements at Jay Z and Beyonce's wedding, which we all know went down, but has yet to be confirmed. Possibly the best line of the skit: "Freeway, Beenie and Memphis Bleek all wanted to sit at Kanye's tables, as long as Kanye wasn't sitting there, so that was weird." They're wrong for this LOL

KELLY ROWLAND STEPS OUT OF THE SHADOW OF BEYONCE
Posted on 07 Jan 2008 by Ewe
WHEN you have been a key part of the biggest-selling - and most "bootylicious" - girl group of all time, the thought of a solo career might have been daunting. But for Kelly Rowland, a founding member of Texan trio Destiny's Child, the chance to strike out on her own is proving rewarding. With a finger-popping new dance track, Work, out this month and an album due in March, the 26-year-old soul belle is enjoying the single life. But even as she charts her own destiny the legacy of her old group remains. Rowland is still on good terms with ex-bandmates Beyonce Knowles and Michelle Williams, and the strong, independent streak that fired Destiny's Child to the top still burns fiercely inside her. "I'm so proud of everything we did in Destiny's Child," she says. "In Destiny's Child, we showed that we could carry ourselves as powerful women, and that there was more to us than just our bodies. "Some people thought a song like Bootylicious was about being sexy but it was more about having confidence in your own skin." Sitting in her London hotel dressed in a petite black hoodie, tight jeans tucked into her brown, knee-length boots, a chatty Rowland is certainly brimming with self-belief. And as she glances at the table in front of her, she picks up a copy of Vanity Fair with a famous actor on the cover to illustrate her point. "Look at Julia Roberts. She's a great example of a strong woman," she says. "She respects herself and carries herself as such. It's up to women to change the way we are usually portrayed in pop music.' Rowland admits Beyonce remains an inspiration, too. The two singers, she says, are like sisters and she refers to Knowles's mother and father as her second family. Continue reading.

Sony BMG Music Entertainment, the world's second largest music company, will this month become the last of the big four majors to drop copy protection software on music downloads, also known as digital rights management (DRM). Sony BMG, home to artists including Beyonce, Britney Spears and Celine Dion, said on Monday it will launch a gift card service on January 15 called Platinum MusicPass that will feature digital albums from its artists in the MP3 format. The format does not use DRM protection. Fans will be able to buy the digital album cards in stores and download full-length albums from a MusicPass Web site after they type in an identifying number. The cards will be available at U.S. retail outlets such as Best Buy and Target.
