LAKELAND HIGH GRAD STARS IN BEYONCE MUSIC VIDEO
Posted on 07 Oct 2008 by Ewe
Eddie Goines II is about to become one of the most envied men on Earth. Beginning today, Goines' fellow males will sit before their TV sets and watch him play romantic foil to the glamorous Beyoncé Knowles in the video for her new single, "If I Were A Boy." Goines, a former Lakeland High School football player, said he has already been feeling the envy from friends who learned about what may be the biggest break in his acting career. "Oh my goodness, the conversations and phone calls have been crazy, crazy, crazy," Goines said by phone from Los Angeles, where he lives. "It's exciting, without a doubt, but it's just funny because I know how guys are. I just knew the jokes were coming." Goines, a 1990 graduate of Lakeland High, has serious hopes that the exposure will vault him to new opportunities in the thespian world, a realm he has found to be just as competitive as football. "The song is so powerful, it's going to be a big deal," said Goines, whose father lives in Auburndale. "It's just up to me to capitalize on it." Read more. Thanks Jason!

EVEN THE RAIN STOPS FOR BEYONCE
Posted on 05 Oct 2008 by Ewe
'Awesome' was the word used by so many in the audience during and after Beyoncé's performance. The young superstar thrilled the audience at the National Sports Centre with the type of show one would expect to see in London or New York. The multiple Grammy Award winner opened her performance with "Crazy In Love". The popular hit was followed by an onslaught of songs – from her solo career and from her years as a member of the successful R&B trio Destiny's Child. Throughout the night, Beyoncé, along with her female and male dancers, strutted her stuff in well-choreographed moves. Her all-woman band brought the usually sedate local audience to its feet – in a word, it was hot! Bass guitarist Destiny brought Jimi Hendrix to mind, while Beyonce's drummer and backup singers were equally as impressive. The dance routines boasted a global repertoire – Bosso Nova, Salsa, Reggae, Dance Hall, Bhangra, Hip Hop and Soca. Even classical Indian dance hand gestures were neatly tossed in. The superstar entered the dark stage through a cloud of smoke as fireworks and sparklers descended in the background. And she was undeterred by the rain, which stopped as her performance got underway. Read more.

BEYONCE TALKS NEW ALBUM IN LETTER TO FANS: "I HAVE TAKEN RISKS HERE"
Posted on 05 Oct 2008 by Ewe
Beyoncé has penned a letter to her fans to talk about her new album, due out November 18th. While the LP is shrouded in mystery — we only know that Justin Timberlake will appear and two of the singles are called “If I Were a Boy” and “Single Ladies” — Mrs. Jay-Z tells fans, “My music will explain it all. I have worked on this album for close to one year. I have taken the time so I can create my sound. Something that says who I am at this stage in my life. I have poured my heart and soul into it. It is my baby.” Beyoncé admits she spent more time working on this album than any other in her career. “I have recorded over 70 songs and have created a sound that reveals all of me. I am in a different place right now, and I wanted people to see the many sides of me,” she adds. “The music is upbeat for the dance, fun side, and it is reflective, passionate and serious for the personal side. I have taken risks here.” The aforementioned singles will hit radio October 7th.

BEYONCE GIVEN £2.5 MILLION RING BY JAY-Z
Posted on 05 Oct 2008 by Ewe
The couple married in a secret ceremony in April this year but the star had taken care not to be pictured wearing her ring. However, last week the 27-year-old was spotted wearing the extravagant ring while on holiday in Miami with her 21-year-old sister Solange. Jay-Z, who earned an estimated £41 million last year, is believed to have bought the ring from jeweller Lorraine Schwartz, a New York-based designer who is favoured by Hollywood's elite. Beyonce has regularly been seen wearing the designer's jewellery on the red carpet. Jeweller's in London's Hatton Garden diamond district confirmed that the stone in Beyonce's ring was rare and said that it has most likely come from South Africa or Sierra Leone. Jay-Z, 38, earns his fortune not only from live performances and album sales, but also from his many business ventures, which include a hotel and clothing range. This year he became the first rapper to headline at the Glastonbury festival. However, despite his ostentatious taste, the hip-hop star has been praised for his charity work. He was recently honoured at the UN Global Leadership Awards Gala in New York for his work in helping to bring clean water to young people in Africa. Of his charity work, he said: "I went to Africa, spent a couple weeks in Angola. A bunch of different places. That was the whole thing for me. "I've given to charities in the past and you close your eyes and cross your fingers and hope that the money gets there. "With this I got to go to Africa, I got to see the water pumps, I got to touch it. "I got to see the kids turn them on. Tonight, I don't know what I'm doing here, I'm rewarded already."

Seats in the lower bowl are $50; a table at floor level is $10,000. To reserve a spot, go to mchf.org or call 786-268-1794.

BEYONCE'S NEW ALBUM TO BE DELAYED
Posted on 01 Oct 2008 by Ewe
Beyonce Knowles' new album is set to be delayed. The former Destiny's Child singer is due at Sony BMG Music Wednesday to make an announcement about the record's release - which was originally scheduled for November 18 - but insiders say they have run into problems. A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "The album is not going to be completed by November 18. But she's got to get it out early in the fourth quarter, when there's so much competition among artists." The delay is believed to be due to Beyonce's decision to star in two movies this year - "Cadillac Records" and "Obsessed" - as well as the duet she has recorded with Justin Timberlake. An insider said: "Both Beyonce and Justin didn't like the way the song sounded, so they insisted on doing it over and over again until they got it 100 percent right." However, Rob Stringer, the chief of Sony BMG Music, still holds out hope for the album to be released later this year. He said: "Beyonce has an enormous number of very talented people doing whatever they can to make it the best record possible." "Normally I would lie low, but we think the first two singles will be utterly huge. They're two of the best songs of her career. Beyonce is incredibly hardworking, and the album is 97 percent to 98 percent done. It'll be out before Nov. 20. Frankly, we think the whole record is going to be huge."

BEYONCE TO APPEAR AT MTV GONG NIGHT
Posted on 30 Sep 2008 by Ewe
R&B superstar Beyonce Knowles will return to the UK to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards, the organisers have announced. Beyonce, 27, has also been nominated in the Ultimate Urban category of the awards, taking place in Liverpool in November. The remaining performing artists will be announced in the coming weeks. Confirmation of Beyonce's appearance at the ceremony came as MTV revealed that Britney Spears, Coldplay and Welsh soul singer Duffy lead the award nominations. Each have each been shortlisted in three categories, including the Album of the Year. Amy Winehouse and X-Factor winner Leona Lewis have been nominated for the Act of 2008 award. Richard Godfrey, senior vice president of MTV and executive producer of the awards, said: "We are extremely pleased that Beyonce is returning to the MTV Europe Music Awards and will once again wow the audience with what promises to be a show-stopping performance. "I am confident that when we reveal the final acts to perform, the bill will live up to our promise that the MTV Europe Music Awards will absolutely be the best gig in Europe this year." Beyonce achieved fame as the lead singer of Destiny's Child, the biggest selling girl band of all time. Her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, won her five Grammy nominations. The remaining list of nominations includes previous MTV Europe winners Foo Fighters, 30 Seconds to Mars, Rihanna and Tokio Hotel as well as new acts Jonas Brothers, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus.

BEYONCE'S WIGS WORTH HALF A MILL
Posted on 30 Sep 2008 by Ewe
The secret behind Beyonces’ beautiful barnet has been revealed – a wig collection worth half a million quid. According to a friend, the singer who is married to US rapper Jay-Z, has a syrup for every possible occasion. The friend told In Touch magazine: “The majority of them are custom-made from real hair and she's probably got $1 million worth of stunning wigs "It's part of the reason why she always looks so gorgeous." To stop the collection expanding to hair-raising proportions, the former Destiny’s Child beauty donates her old wigs to a charity which helps cancer sufferers. And after banking Ł40 million in the past 12 months, Beyonce can certainly afford to be generous.

DISNEY IN TALKS WITH BEYONCE TO STAR IN "AIDA"?
Posted on 27 Sep 2008 by Ewe
Deborah Cox replaced Toni Braxton when she took to the Broadway stage in the starring role of Aida - a role Heather Headley originated. But none of them are apparently big enough to carry Disney's planned movie musical, due in 2010. Instead, Beyonce is in talks to star as Aida, and Christina Aguilera in the supporting role of Amneris. Just ask any of her former colleagues in Destiny's Child: You just can't get away from Beyonce these days. To think the 27-year-old is only beginning to truly conquer film. Soon enough, we'll see the Dreamgirls' star turn as blues singer Etta James in Cadillac Records. But Beyonce has pretty much stayed in the recorded-music limelight ever since she released her last album two years ago. B-Day spawned no fewer than six hits. Now, she's ready with her third solo set, which will drop one week after Cox's The Promise. Timbaland is purportedly the lead producer on the as-yet-untitled album, which will also feature Justin Timberlake, although Billboard reports it's unclear in what capacity, and the magazine offered few other details other than that we'll hear two singles from the set in less than two weeks: ''If I Were A Boy'' and ''Single Ladies.''

- Hmm... I remember there was some news about Bee starring in "Aida" back in 2006 but Beyonce said she was not going to do it.
