Beyoncé mounted the stage at Madison Square Garden last night like a warrior eager for battle. With her triumphant gait, statuesque figure and steely stare, the singer seemed primed not just to perform but to vanquish. From the opening number, the valiant "Crazy in Love," Beyoncé sang with a fiery determination, stressing cries and shouts that had no use for subtlety and even less for vulnerability. She danced at an equally mad clip, hitting every mark with a vengeance. A Beyoncé show (or rather, a "Beyoncé Experience," as the event advertises itself) has everything to do with power and nothing to do with nuance. It's the kind of thing meant to inspire awe, not intimacy. So is it any surprise that for all the show's dazzle and dash, one left the building feeling at least a bit pummeled? Read more.

The next time you whip out your credit card to make a purchase, you may hear “Bootylicious” playing in the background. American Express has announced that Beyonce Knowles will be their next celebrity rep. The credit card company has reportedly signed the singer/actress to a multi-million dollar ad campaign that will launch in late 2007. And she’s getting a jump start on her duties. Reportedly, the Destiny’s Child singer couldn’t wait to get things started, with a photo shoot and commercial taping already on her itinerary. An industry insider told press, “She’s a role model for so many young people,” says an insider. “She has tremendous cross-over appeal the same way Tiger does. She’s an inspiration for lots of people. She’s a great fit for American Express.” Beyonce follows in the footsteps of Tiger Woods, Ellen DeGeneres, Robert DeNiro, Venus Williams, and Kate Winslet as she promotes American Express.

Beyonce Knowles will give away her latest fragrance for free at her New York show. The 'Crazy In Love' singer is launching Diamonds - a new perfume with Emporio Armani - at her Madison Square Garden concert on Saturday. Twenty "brand ambassadors" will be at the show to give out free samples of Diamonds to the audience.
She begged the audience at her Orlando concert not to post cell phone camera footage of her head-first tumble down the stairs on the Internet. Yet and still, Lycos.com says it was their most popular search for the week ending July 28. The spill, during her performance of “Ring the Alarm,” tops The Lycos 50 list, which keeps weekly tabs on its 50 most popular Web searches. Beyonce’s misfortune also caused a spike in searches for the footage on YouTube, which ranked No. 3 on the Lycos 50. Interestingly, YouTube which, at first, pulled the clips from their site, claiming the video violated copyright laws, apparently has quietly reversed its stand because we found the clip below and several others at the site.

Beyonce has imposed a ban on male staff for her current world tour, arguing that she prefers being in the company of women. The 'Crazy in Love' singer told The Sun she initally had reservations over her single sex policy, saying: "I was like, 'this will never work', but I found focused and incredible musicians that are just as good or better than any guy." Explaining her decision, she commented: "I grew up in a house with so many women. I love being around women. I love being around talented women and supportive women." Speaking about the success of the policy so far, the former Destiny's Child star added: "Everyone is so supportive of each other. We do things together, like yesterday we went skating. "I rented out a roller skating rink for all of us and everybody's families to come."

Beyonce has exposed her weakness – reading about herself in the tabloids. According to the pop-star she is still human and avoids gossip rags because she they hurt. In an interview with CNN she said: “Sometimes I'll run across certain things, usually in the paper, because I read the paper more so than the Web. ”There's one or two sites that I can go to. But if I go on the Internet and try to see what people are saying, I'll probably want to crawl under a rock. Because I'm still human and certain things, it just hurts, so I try not to read the Internet too much.”

Pay attention Jay-Z, Beyonce Knowles says she has a lot of love for ladies. The Booty-ful one believes womankind has a lot more to offer than the male species. She explained: "I grew up in a house with so many women. I love being around women. I love being around talented women and supportive women." Such is the former Destiny's Child singer's affection for the same sex, she has banned blokes from her current world tour. She added: "Everyone is so supportive of each other. We do things together, like yesterday we went skating. "I rented out a roller skating rink for all of us and everybody's families to come." Even so, the large-lunged diva did have some reservations about the absence of testosterone on the road, saying: "I was afraid of that in the beginning when I had the idea. "I was like, 'this will never work', but I found focused and incredible musicians that are just as good or better than any guy."
Beyoncé Knowles, Halle Berry and Tyra Banks are changing the beauty standards in mainstream media - why not in art? Kip Omolade finds inspiration in voluptuous women of color. Omolade's traditionally painted oil paintings feature women who exude sexuality and spirituality. While Omolade's influences include Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Sargeant, Bouguereau and Vargas, his paintings reflect a contemporary cultural shift. He says, "It's easy to see the glamour in Beyoncé. She represents a beauty ideal in the Black community. In the art world, however, gratifying depictions of beautiful full figured ethnic women are rare."

Beyonce's U.S. tour was looking like it might be cursed after stray pyrotechnics injured fans in St. Louis and - last week - the star's much-YouTubed face plant at a concert in Orlando. So all eyes (and video phones) were on the diva as she took the stage Sunday at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Everyone seemed to be holding their breath as she descended the stairs during the opening of "Ring the Alarm" (during which she'd fallen in Orlando). The place erupted in screams as she completed her walk. The only inclination she gave of a rough week were a few tears sliding down her face during "Flaws and All" as she sang the lyrics "you catch me when I fall." Check this link to read more and watch short clip of Beyonce performing in Charlotte. Here are pictures.

When Destiny's Child was at its peak, the trio appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in paramilitary style, as if they were enlisted soldiers in "booty camp." In retrospect, Beyonce (who was in the center of the picture, naturally) should have been wearing a five-star general's uniform. This is a woman who was born to command. Saturday night at the RBC Center, James Brown himself could not have been more in charge of the stage than Beyonce was. She's less a performer than a multimedia platform, and the two-hour show seamlessly integrated Beyonce's songs, videos, movies and merchandise into a sensory overload of synergy. "Give it to mama," Beyonce growled at one point as she departed the stage for a costume change, and the urge to reach for one's wallet and hand it over was overwhelming. And when she stopped mid-song at one point to demand more audience enthusiasm, everybody piped right up. Read the full review of Raleigh concert here. I've uploaded some hq photos, check them below.

Kelly Rowland dreamed of being white as a child - because she thought it would give her a better chance of success. The 26-year-old still feels black performers have an unfair disadvantage in the entertainment industry, but has learned to appreciate her own beauty with the help of former bandmate Beyonce Knowles' mum. Rowland says, "It's said that brown-skinned girls don't sell magazines, that's sad. I wished I was fair-skinned, but Tina Knowles said, 'Don't you know how beautiful you are?' "She made me come into my brown beauty. I didn't get it, now I do. "I am chocolate and beautiful and loving it".

Energizer Bunny has nothing on Beyonce. In the past year and a half, the pop superstar has put out the multiplatinum album B'Day, starred in the Oscar-nominated musical Dreamgirls, launched her Dereon clothing line, put out an expanded edition of B'Day featuring the hit Beautiful Liar with Shakira, released a DVD featuring a video for each song off her album, and now she's in the middle of a worldwide tour. Just before one of her concert stops, Beyonce took time out to talk about her jam-packed year, working with an all-female musical troupe, dealing with haters and why you won't find her reading any Internet gossip sites. Read the interview.
Concert review: Beyonce at Hampton Coliseum There's just no other way to put it: Beyonce gives a flawless performance. The entertainer rendered a superb show to a packed house at Hampton Coliseum on Friday, proving why her stature as a new icon has been well-earned. Sure, one could find tiny criticisms on the set, but frankly, they'd be nit-picky and unkind. Though she is woefully overexposed - her name appearing in print, it seems, just as often as "President Bush" - the truth of the matter is that Beyonce is a stellar performer, probably the best of her generation, and the throng of united, googly-eyed fans at the Coliseum would certainly agree. Superstar Beyonce Knowles has laughed off reports she is set star in a film adaptation of AIDA, but added she would love the opportunity. Earlier this month, internet reports suggested Knowles would be playing the Nubian princess in the big-screen adaptation of the Giuseppe Verdi opera. However, Knowles says, "The Aida thing? I mean, I would love that, it sounds like a good idea. But I haven't had any meetings about it."
Beyonce Knowles’ label, Sony BMG is lobbying YouTube to remove all video clips of the singer’s recent tumble from the site. The music company has counteracted against the video sharing site after several users posted a clip of the former Destiny’s Child singer falling headlong down a flight of stairs during her concert in Orlando on July 24. The ‘Crazy in Love’ singer, who was wearing high heels and a red trench coat, gathered herself back in an instant and continued performing ‘Ring The Alarm.’ After the song, Beyonce quickly left the stage and soon returned to continue the show with her next number, this time seated on a stool. After admitting that it "hurt so bad," the singer joked with the audience, saying "Don't put it on You Tube.” However, the audience didn't abide by her request, and circulated several videos of the incident on the site.

Singer Beyoncé has fallen face-first down a set of stairs while performing a routine at her concert in Florida. The singer was not hurt when she tripped on stage while performing her hit single 'Ring The Alarm'. According to Entertainment Tonight, Beyoncé asked fans who had recorded the fall not to put the videos on the Internet but footage of the slip-up later appeared on YouTube. The singer reportedly pulled herself up straight away and continued with her performance after the tumble.
Usher will marry his pregnant fiancée, Tameka Foster, 38, at the Hamptons' home of record executive LA Reid this weekend. After announcing last month that they would be having a child together, Usher and Tameka Foster are planning to be married this weekend. This will be the first wedding for Usher and the second for Tameka, who is already the mother to three kids. Guests were notified of the couples' impending nuptials with a phone call rather than an invitation in the mail in an effort to keep the ceremony under wraps. The A-list guest list is said to include notable names such as Beyoncé and Jay-Z. However, D-listers such as Usher's mother and his assistant of six years, both of whom Usher fired at the request of his fiancée, will not be invited.

MediaTakeOut.com has learned that last week Beyonce Knowles visited an Atlanta strip club. According to Atlanta radio personality Miss Sophia, who is a part of the popular Frank And Wanda Morning Show on V-103, Beyonce and a male assistant walked into an Atlanta male strip club. Miss Sophia was the emcee at the strip club that night. And according to her, "Beyonce said she wanted to get away from all the business of what she had to do [at her upcoming concert in Atlanta], and hang out and chill." And that's not all. MediaTakeOut.com learned that Beyonce actually took the stage with the male exotic dancers. Miss Sophia told, "When I introduced [Beyonce to the crowd], I joked and said she was an impersonator. Then, when she came on stage, people were like, 'Uh uh, that's the real Beyonce.'" After about 45 minutes in the club, however, Beyonce left. Tells Miss Sophia, "The phones started ringing and the club really started to fill up ... so [Beyonce] left."

It was inevitable that Beyoncé would ditch Grammy-winning trio Destiny's Child for solo glory - the bootylicious diva simply doesn't need support to command any stage. Sunday night at a nearly sold-out BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Beyoncé put on a show that was as much Broadway theater as musical performance.Shortly after 9 p.m., the singer made an appropriately dramatic entrance in a silver sequined dress with matching floor-length cape. She danced wild-haired, like a young Tina Turner, as the opening song Crazy In Love segued into Gnarls Barkley's hit Crazy. Backed by an all-female band with a horn section and three drummers (with SUGA MAMA emblazoned on the bass drum heads), Beyoncé got her freak on during Freekum Dress, with a torrid solo by a Lenny Kravitz lady lookalike. Beyoncé tapped Shakira's essence by dressing in a shimmering gypsy skirt and bikini top for Baby Boy -- and she shook it like the fiery Colombian singer, gyrating with male dancers in military fatigues on a smoky stage. The Middle Eastern theme continued with Naughty Girls (which borrowed Donna Summer's Love To Love You Baby), after which Beyoncé scatted like a muted trumpet back and forth with her horn section. Beyoncé waited till an hour into the show before tapping her Destiny's Child alter-ego. In a sequined body suit, Beyoncé ran through a medley of the group's hits, including Independent Women, Bootylicious, No No No, Bug A Boo, Bills Bills Bills, Cater 2 U, Say My Name, Soldier and Survivor. Concertgoers dressed in their best club gear made their way to the St. Pete Times Forum to see Beyonce on Saturday night. Ladies sported skinny jeans and coordinating stilettos while the men rocked everything from linen suits to baggy jeans. Opening act Robin Thicke came out in his signature black button-down shirt and pants with Adidas shell toe shoes. He warmed things up with crowd favorites "Can U Believe" and "Lost Without You." Between performers, those with tickets in the nosebleeds were told to make their way toward the stage and fill in the lower levels. After shrills and applause, the masses moved in without incident, yet highlighted the fact that the show was undersold. Read more.
Kelly Rowland reassures Angus Batey that, despite all the conspiracy theories, she has not had a phantom baby, her new album isn't a bitter reflection on the break-up of Destiny's Child, and she's not dead. If you think that life as an alumnus of one of the world's biggest-selling pop groups must be all fun and games, spending time in the company of Kelly Rowland may help to change your mind. The singer, a former member of Destiny's Child, is used to people taking the odd pot shot. But some remarks go beyond the pale. "I've heard everything these past few weeks," she chuckles with bemused resignation. "From Beyonce bein' engaged, to my mom and Mathew (Knowles, Beyonce's dad and Destiny's Child's manager) having this rendezvous and making me, to me being pregnant, to me being dead ..." Continue.

Shaquila Roach said she was nervous when she walked on stage Tuesday at Kiss FM's "Be Beyonce to See Beyonce" talent contest. Clutching keys and cell phone in one hand and microphone in the other, any nerves Roach had were not visible as she sang the pop star's hit song "Irreplaceable," before an audience of about 100. In the end, James Evans of Greenville won the tickets by dressing as Beyonce and dancing and lip synching to her latest single, but Roach moved closer to her dream of performing professionally. Beyonce doesn't do concerts. Instead, the R&B superstar is providing "The Beyonce Experience" when she appears at arenas across the nation this summer. That includes a stop Tuesday at Amway Arena in Orlando. We assume the "Experience" will include her Diva-ness performing a few songs from her latest hit album, "B'Day." Yes, it's true B (as her friends, her beau Jay-Z and all hip people know her) has fallen out of the annual Forbes list of top 100 celebrities in recent years. But the 25-year-old singer is still racking up some impressive numbers. Here's a look at some of them. Number of guys in Beyonce's touring . . . er, "Experience" band. Not only did B decide to go no-boys-allowed for her current backing band, but also she held nationwide auditions to find the 10 female musicians. Why this move? That's easy -- what male musician could play literally behind the Divine Ms. B and not get distracted? Continue. Added more images from Texas (courtesy of callipygian2005).

In name alone, the Beyoncé Experience Tour evokes a multisensory mission. It's no surprise, then, that the Saturday night stop at Toyota Center featured generous helpings of glitter, glamour and gyrating. But for a few moments, early in the two-plus hours of performance, Beyoncé beamed like a high school homecoming queen. "It feels so good to say Houston!" she shouted to the packed arena. "I'm a H-town girl. I grew up on the Southside. I went to Welch Middle School. I went to the High School for the Performing (and Visual) Arts. "I love Frenchy's Chicken." It sent the crowd into rapturous roars, but the same would've likely happened without the hometown shout-outs. Simply put, Beyoncé is one of contemporary music's most thrilling live entertainers. Starting in April there were rumors from MediaTakeOut that rapper Jay-Z was leaving the Def Jam Recordings record to create a new "super label" with singer Beyonce. In an exclusive interview, MediaTakeOut.com spoke to a key person involved in creating the new label. And according to that insider, the new label will launch early next year. Tells our insider, "It's a done deal. [Jay Z] already has Beyonce on board ... She'll be finishing up her contract [with Sony], and I expect that she'll sign on to the new label shortly afterwards." Jay-Z is a popular rapper and current president and CEO of Def Jam - a record label owned by Universal Music. At the time, Jay-Z was reportedly shopping this new "super label" around with the major record labels "and to Apple - who [was] very interested in doing business". Now, Moli.com is claiming that "an inside industry source" says that its a done deal. [Jay-Z and Beyonce] will move to Apple to run a new music division. It sounds rather incredible: [Jay-Z's] already got a pretty good job, running Def Jam, and [Steve] Jobs may be too smart to get into the tanking recording business (as others have said). Of course, if it is true, my guess is this would be a new, revamped record biz, one based on digital distribution, not boring old physical products. Read more.
